1. Sod needs 4 - 6 hours of sunlight to grow.

2. There must be some type of irrigation. It's fine if it's just you and the hose but that's very time consuming.
The rain has proved that it can't provide enough water to keep the majority of grasses alive.

3. The first two weeks after sod is installed is a crucial time to water. Below are examples of the watering
schedules (A & B).
Keep in mind  depending on where the sod is laid  (Full sun or partial shade) the watering
schedule needs to be adjusted accordingly (If in a heavily shaded area, water up to half as much as is
suggested below).

A. In the middle of summer the sod will have to be watered twice a day for one or two weeks and then once a
day for the 3rd week.

B. In the winter the sod may only have to be watered once/twice a day for the first week then once a day for
the second week.

4. After inaital couple of weeks you should cut back and keep an eye on it for unusual yellowing, browning
or dryness of the blades of grass. You can see when the blade of grass is conserving water by looking at it to
see if it's folded in half. It does this to conserve water.

5. Of course making sure it slopes away from the house and other structures. Now you can lay the sod very
tightly together. If there is a gap inbetween the sod the sun has a chance of hitting the soil. It's a good
chance you're going to have weeds pop up in that open spot.
